Job Type Full-time Description A leading, privately held real estate development, investment and management company that has acquired or developed more than 15 million square feet of commercial, residential, retail, mixed-use and industrial projects is currently seeking a Senior Property Accountant to apply cash, accrual and full GAAP accounting principles to prepare, analyze, maintain and deliver complete and accurate financial reports for a highly complex or strategic portfolio of Advance clients and properties. A successful candidate for this position will be a self-starter, attentive to detail and passionate about their work. Responsibilities Completes and oversees advanced level accounting transactions in preparation of client financial statement packages Creates and posts journal entries Ensures that all expenses, receipts, owner's distributions, funding requests and other transactions for the accounting period have been accurately posted. Generates and reviews financial packages for accuracy and comprehensive reporting. Prepares packages on a schedule to ensure timely delivery to the investor, lender and other management teams, as required Prepares funding and payment requests for accuracy, documentation, and authorization in accordance with established operating procedures Reconciles bank accounts and fixed asset ledgers to supporting documentation Responds to and resolves issues and requests from management teams and clients regarding various accounting issues and reports including P&L statements. Researches open accounting issues and recognizes potential issues and / or conflicts so corrective action can intercept and minimize issues Reviews complex property budgets and forecasting for assigned property portfolios Job cost accounting for development and construction projects, as necessary Liaison with audit and tax preparers for externally required financial statements Requirements Skills and Experience Bachelors' degree in accounting required Minimum of 5 years' experience in real estate accounting required CPA certification (active license) preferred Experience with real estate accounting software (MRI or Yardi) preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills Requires knowledge of GAAP and Federal Tax regulations. This includes knowledge of financial terms and principles to include accounting methods (cash/accrual and GAAP/tax) Proficient in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing tenant CAM charges and reconciliations
