Warby Parker is looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to assist the Accounting team in managing accounting for all aspects of our Retail business, including lease accounting and the review and maintenance of ASC 842, fixed asset accounting, and software capitalization. In this role, you'll also help achieve the department's goals by supporting our month-end close and improving the efficiency of our processes. What you'll do: Assist with the lease accounting for a growing retail footprint (about 40+ new leases a year!), focusing on period-end closing and financial reporting Prepare journal entries as an essential member of the monthly close process Prepare essential leasing and fixed asset account reconciliations, including managing the leasing and fixed asset subledgers and associated reconciliations, as well as external software reconciliations Review and analyze monthly operating expense activity and determine additional monthly accruals or required adjusting journal entries Review and research invoices for capitalization consideration Work closely with the Senior Accounting team to aid in income statement reporting, lead sheet analysis, and external financial reporting Support leasing and fixed asset-related SOX controls Support long-term accounting projects that will help improve monitoring and efficiency capabilities and grow our business Provide ad-hoc analysis for the Accounting team and senior management Aid in quarterly external audit requests for leases and fixed assets Communicate with various teams regarding retail accounting inquiries Who you are: Backed by at least one year of general accounting experience within consumer products, retail, auditing, or another related industry The proud owner of a Bachelor of Science in accounting or finance A total Excel expert (keyboard shortcuts are your love language) Eager to work in a fast-paced environment Super serious about your work (without taking yourself too seriously) A highly collaborative and communicative team player and self-starter willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done Highly organized and detail-oriented (improving and documenting processes is your bread and butter) A dexterous multitasker who can prioritize several projects without losing focus Positive, kind, and excited by a challenge Extra credit: A CPA (or looking to be one very soon!)
