Job Details Job Location The Landmark Center - Chesapeake, VA Position Type Full Time Education Level High School Salary Range $15.00 - $16.83 Hourly Description The Maintenance Technician I provides minor maintenance, landscaping and cleaning at all owned ForKids sites, both residential and offices, and assists at scattered leased sites as directed. This employee provides agency-wide support by attending to facilities issues as directed. Works directly with Operations Management, Maintenance Coordinator, Maintenance Technician(s) and other agency employees to ensure that the upkeep and safety of all agency properties are attended to in a timely manner. Position is designated essential personnel. Essential Personnel are defined as those employees who are required to work during an authorized emergency closing because their positions have been designated by the agency as essential to critical functions. Essential employees may be required to work during times they are not regularly scheduled to work. RESPONSIBILITIES Maintenance Conduct minor maintenance on agency properties, including, but not limited to, monitoring and changing HVAC filters, light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, and window blinds, and touch up painting. Keep storage spaces clean and orderly. Oversee and participate as needed in preparation for and completion of volunteer projects, including landscaping and unit turnover. Assist in preparation of residential units for occupancy, including cleaning and light painting. Perform landscaping as directed, including mowing, trimming, edging, and watering. Move agency furniture as needed. Maintain cleanliness in common areas such as foyers and stairwells in apartment buildings and community spaces. Pick up litter at agency locations and move bulk trash items to curb when pick up scheduled. Meet and provide access to agency sites for maintenance vendors (plumbers, electricians, security, etc.). Perform routine inspections on agency vehicles (tire pressure & wear, lights, cleanliness, etc.) Assist with pest control regimen as needed. Practice professional behavior in communicating with clients while being aware of confidentiality and boundaries issues. Participate in the emergency on-call rotation which shall consist of one on-call week in every four week period with agency on-call phone Other duties as assigned. Customer Service: Provide service to internal and external customers according to standards as outlined in ForKids Customer CARE Manual. Financial Management: Use agency resources (financial and non-financial) prudently. Acknowledge and follow financial policies of the agency. Grants Data Management: Accurately complete all required data reporting in accordance with established guidelines. Participate in all scheduled data collection trainings. Community Engagement : Participate in development and fundraising activities as needed and requested (ex: meeting with donors, providing tours, attending fundraising events). Regularly engage, support and collaborate with volunteers to provide a meaningful experience. Qualifications Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED), and some related experience and/or training. Essential Functions, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to organize time efficiently. Ability to safely and efficiently drive to new locations. Ability to lift heavy objects (75-100 pounds). Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff. Ability to work independently. Clean driving record, current license and proof of insurance required. Knowledge of building and vehicle maintenance requirements and ability to communicate effectively regarding mechanical matters. Knowledge of the use of office phone systems, personal computers and standard office software. Valid driver's license with no more than three minor moving violations and/or accidents combined within the last 3 years, and no major moving violations in the past five years.
