Project Overview:The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project - the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, extending from the existing terminal at 95thDan Ryan south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue. The Stations Design Coordinator will ensure the most cost-effective design, constructability and safety in design for the rail stations on the Project.Responsibilities:Plans, develops and organizes the design efforts focus on stations. Provide administrative and technical support and direction of Design.To act as a technical reference for the construction team.Serve as the referent in technical aspect of station Design, procurement and future construction.Stations construction is entirely subcontracted to Walsh Building Group, subsidiary of Walsh Corporation. The Station Design Coordinator will supervise the station Design development between Designer and Subcontractor with the target to make better choices for the Project and the JV beyond Designer's and Subcontractor's perspective.Manages the Station Designer (structure, architect, mechanic, electrical and plumbing trades) and assumes interfaces with other disciplines: civil, system, track, structure.Key actor of the Design approval process, including steps of Design review, constructability review, means and methods interface and incorporation, Client review, 3rd parties review, permitting process.To review and approve drawings developed by subcontractors and other Designers during different phases of the Project.To manage requests for information from designers.To review and approve subcontractor's requests.To develop key performance indicators.Promotes and implements Safety in Design, Environment in Design.Qualifications:RequiredBachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.Minimum 10 years' engineering design experience within Design-Build ProjectsMinimum 8 years in design andor design management of building and associated structures, technical and finishing tradesAbility to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others is essential.Broad generalized knowledge of personnel safety, process safety, and environmental principles regulations.Project management and administrative skills necessary to plan, organize, coordinate, and control the development and execution of many projects - including cost and schedule control.Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast paced environment.Excellent technical and problem solving skills to identify alternatives to challenges presented and select the most appropriate solution with minimal guidance or precedence.Experience working on Joint Venture (JV) construction projects required.Fluent in English with professional proficiency.Valid Driver's License.PreferredActive Professional Engineer (PE) certificationExperience in building constructionWork Environment:Involves a dynamic and challenging work environment.Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site.Physical Demands:Must be able to lift 25lbs.Walking and standing while in-office or on-site.Occasional climbing on and off equipment and bending to inspect.
