Responsibilities:The Propeller Systems Engineering group is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer to support new and legacy propeller products. Work involves performing Finite Element Analysis and damage tolerance analyses on various propeller products (domes, yokes, hubs, bolted joints and control housings) and assessing for static and fatigue itial assignment will be to lead analysis activities for the establishment of a propeller system major inspection interval (perform FEAdamage tolerance analyses, identify any component tests needed, etc.).Additional typical design activities for both primary structure and control system components to be performed as workload demand evolvesThe position is working onsite at our Windsor Locks CT facility Candidate Roles may involve:Supporting military and commercial propeller platforms.Provide analytical support for preliminary & detailed design, through development, validation, certification and operational service.Perform product structural static and fatigue analyses with damage tolerance considerations either via FEA or classical methods.Develop and document analysis conclusions to establish relevant design requirements andor not to exceed in service limits. This may be supported by available analysis, test, past service data, and engineering judgement.Support propeller system in-service investigations.Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processesmethods.Generate reports for engineering work performed based on analysis and test teract with internal customers, external customers, vendors and suppliers.Participate on multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight.Participate in internal and external product design engineering teams and reviews.Coordinate and work regularly with engineering, in both Windsor Locks, CT and Figeac, France as well as MRO's and program office.Occasional domestic and international travel required to support maintainers, suppliers, customers, and aircraft operators.Perform other duties as required.Requirements:Preferred ExperienceQualifications The preferred requirements for this position include:10 years of structural analysis experience with MSC Software (NastranPatran), NX Nastran or equivalent FEA software package5 years of design and analysis experience of aerospace structural componentsExperience with Siemens NXUnigraphics or similar CAD softwareExperience with stress-life fatigue analysisExperience with analysis of bolted jointsExperience with Damage Tolerance Analysis (NASGRO) is a plusAdvanced experience with non-linear FEA models including assembly models with contact, plasticity, and large deformation. Modal and dynamic response analysis is a plus.Experience in one or more computer programming languages (e.g. MATLAB, Python, Fortran). Experience with Fortran is a plusExperience with structural analysis workflow optimizationExperience in the use of typical Microsoft Office programsStrong oral and written communication skillsAbility to present to customers, operators, and levels of leadership internally & externally.Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T dimensioning and tolerancing)Education:Bachelor's degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
