Summary/Primary Purpose: Under the supervision of the Service Center Coordinator, employee will perform duties related to our Food Pantry and/or Doing the Most Good Market. Includes driving agency vehicle to pick up donations from area partners, making food deliveries, and assist with other programs as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Pick up donations from designated businesses, load in agency van, and unload at Service Center. Weigh items and accurately record totals by category for each partner business. Sort, stock, rotate, and restock items in designated locations ensuring oldest items are distributed first. Routinely inspect perishable items and dispose of items as needed. Complete daily paperwork and place in file prior to end of shift. Assist with Food Bank deliveries including ordering, receiving, and storing items. Coordinate and make deliveries to other pantries, as requested. Manage maintenance of the agency van including filling with gas, cleaning the interior, keeping the windows free of snow or other debris, and coordinating routine maintenance. Keep all distribution areas cleaned, disinfected, and organized. Empty trash as needed. Assist with Food Pantry and Doing The Most Good Market orders including prepping, packaging, and delivering as needed. Assist and train Food Pantry volunteers. Assist with Christmas programs as requested. Other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities : None Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Additional Information Qualifications: minimal knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. Must have a valid driver's license and maintain eligibility to drive agency vehicle. Ability to read scales, thermometers and other similar devices Ability to accurately record donations and turn in to Social Services Receptionist each day. Ability to maintain a strong positive relationship with our partner businesses. Willingness and ability to respect and maintain confidentiality of those who visit TSA. Ability to lift 45 pounds on a regular basis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain effective working relationships. Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of Iowa. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: N/A Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and use arms to open doors and carry items. The employee is required to stand, walk, balance and stoop as well as kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move 30 pounds regularly and up 80 pounds occasionally. Working Conditions: The work environment is both in and outside during extreme cold and heat. Regular lifting of items multiple times in and out of TSA van.
