Works on intermediate/advanced level aspects of the maintenance and repairs of company vehicles with little supervision. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical and engine defects in buses and other automotive equipment, including diesel engines. Diagnostic troubleshooting and repair of engine codes under the OBD-II system. Prep vehicles for service to include cleaning and washing off vehicles/ equipment. Ensure proper operation of engines, tools, and equipment by checking for worn parts and completing preventive maintenance according to manufacturers' maintenance manuals. Change oil filters, install anti-freeze, and snow chains, repair tires, adjust brakes, lubricate chassis, wheel bearings and other assemblies as required. Perform the required preventive maintenance and regular safety inspections. Perform routine maintenance checks on all vehicles and equipment including snow removal machines, heavy equipment, buses, trucks, vans, snowmobiles, and other company vehicles. Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventory and conserves resources by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate equipment, parts, and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Mend damaged body parts. Maintain logs and work sheets of inspection and maintenance performed on all equipment. Minor snow removal around the shop and off equipment. Overhaul and rebuild engines, transmissions, differentials, and all other electrical components utilizing testing devices and machine equipment as required. Perform metal fabrication by using both arc and oxyacetylene welding equipment. Locate sources of problems by observing, listening to, and checking mechanical devices in operation. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices, examining, and diagnosing the cause of failure and correcting the condition. May operate a variety of light equipment and power tools while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies with this equipment. Repair and replace seats, glass, sheet metal, latches, and other body components and assemblies. WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU? Minimum age of 18 Valid Driver's License Ability to Ski/Snowboard (preferred) High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years automobile or equipment maintenance. Knowledge of automotive and mechanic problem solving. Basic math skills. Knowledge of State and Federal DOT regulations. Knowledge of the OBD-II system. General knowledge of diagnosis and repair of hydraulic systems. Must be capable of occasionally lifting and pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. , and frequently lifting, pushing, or pulling, and carrying up to 40lbs. Must be capable of climbing movements, walking on uneven terrain, and walking on snow and ice, and operating snow vehicles. Must be able to bend, kneel, reach, and crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus. WORKING CONDITIONS Indoor / Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places. Hazardous Materials / Noise: Employee will often be in contact with hazardous substances. They will be occasionally exposed to extreme hot/cold and wet conditions, noise, fumes or airborne particles, and the risk of electric shock. The noise level in the workplace is usually loud.
