Description About the position... The Sr. Estimator is primarily responsible for the planning and developing of material, labor, and subcontract budgets for large-scale commercial and residential construction projects. The Estimator will provide strategic input to key project stakeholders, including Senior Management, Partners, Clients, Project Managers, etc. The successful Estimator will be well-versed in modern construction methods/means and will be keenly in tune with current market trends. Develop high-level cost estimates from concepts for commercial and residential construction projects. Prepare detailed planning estimates to identify material, labor, and subcontract cost components using historical unit pricing data. Build and maintain a historical pricing database of key components and materials using QuickBid software. Collaborate with Project Managers and key project stakeholders to strategically plan project budgets. Produce accurate quantity takeoffs from plans using On Screen Takeoff software. Prepare Invitations to Bid (ITB's) with clear scopes of work and distribute them to potential bidders. Communicate with bidders to ensure requirements are understood and specifications are met. Complete bid comparison reports and recommend contract awarding for materials and services. Navigate project folders and CM software to retrieve quotes, bids, and supporting documents. Process fully executed Purchase Orders and Subcontracts into project folders, CM software, and job start books. Assist and support the Purchaser with the scope of Purchase orders for production jobs. Review plans, lease agreements, and other project documentation to gain deep understanding of project requirements. Review plans for inconsistencies with modern construction methods and recommend possible solutions. Coordinate with Architects, engineers, designers, and key project stakeholders to develop and finalize construction plans. Requirements What we are looking for from you... Minimum of 8 years of commercial & residential estimating/construction experience is required. Ability to read and interpret construction plans is required. Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and MS Outlook is required. Experience with construction management, estimating, and takeoff software is required. College coursework in business, engineering, architecture, or construction management is preferred. Must be highly organized and detail oriented. Must possess highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Must possess a strong understanding of construction methods and building codes. Must be able to carry out assignments with minimal supervision.
