Overview: ABOUT THE POSITION Senior Electrical Engineer | Energy Evolution Practice | VHB | Any VHB Office | Hybrid VHB is looking to add a Senior Electrical Engineer with extensive solar and battery storage design experience to our growing Energy Engineering practice. The position would work with other practice groups in VHB, including civil and structural engineering, environmental, planning, and regulatory groups primarily as part of an integrated team supporting renewable energy project design, permitting, and delivery. Responsibilities Oversee the development of electrical layout, one-line documents, construction documents, and specifications for commercial and utility scale solar PV and battery storage systems. Develop specifications, collect data, and complete utility interconnection applications and building permit applications. Develop detailed equipment specifications. Coordinate activities between clients, utilities, permit agencies, contractors, and other engineering disciplines. Lead site assessment and analysis via on-site data collection and network tools. Oversee site specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVsyst and evaluate tree shading impacts on output. Lead the Integration of energy storage systems into the solar PV system. Prepare written technical reports and oral presentations documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Provide expert electrical engineering witness services. Perform system impact studies. Provide mentorship and training to entry level and junior engineering personnel. Skills and Attributes Strong project and client management skills. Extensive market connectivity and business development skills Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Self-motivated with ability to think critically. Qualifications Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related discipline 8-11 years of professional electrical engineering design experience (5 years designing commercial & utility scale solar PV systems) 11-15 years of experience preferred Proficiency with Autocad Civil3D, PVsyst, SKM, and Etap software Professional Engineering License preferred Familiarity with the National Electrical Code Experience working in the northeastern U.S. is preferred Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $111,000-185,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience. We are VHB!
