Based in our Center of Excellence in Elmsford, NY, this role will support the Electronics Security systems group on the design and integration of security systems, access control, intrusion detection systems, communication, CCTV, Intercom systems, computer and networking. This role is responsible for developing detailed design schematic and review 2D and 3D drawings for electronic and electrical products. This position will require working closely with project managers, senior engineers, engineering specialists, manufactures, customers, engineering firms and other external experts. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Interface with project managers and area leadership to develop a win strategy and evaluate the dynamics of projects. Closely work with fellow systems design engineers and provide guidance and or design aid in projects and products that are unfamiliar to them. Reports to Small Business /Program Systems engineering manager. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY The Design Engineer is responsible for the design submittal of integrated security systems for approval by the customer or his representative and in accordance with project specifications, drawings, codes, and regulations, manage and create the design submittal (drawings, bill of material, calculations, as-builts, etc.) and maintain the submittal during changes to the contract. This position will require working in the Elmsford, NY office. Some travel may be required less than 10% of the time. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Working knowledge of Electronic Security Systems and features. Be able to differentiate between technical and contractual issues, create and respond to formal notices, analyze contractual changes and schedule impact of these changes. Ability to scrutinize specified parts and fitness for particular purposes. Ability to see specified errors and recommend substitutions. Ability to issue RFIs and maintain formal communication. Review and release Bills of Material for purchasing. Review of sales persons BOM to ensure proper parts or discontinued parts are substituted. Schedule work and communicate effectively to peers. Develop and improve the security systems design process. Negotiate deliverables with peers and approvers. ADDITIONAL RESPONSABILITIES Be prompt, reliable, and on time in all aspects of your engagement while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Perform any additional duties as required or assigned. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Security engineering experience: 2-6 Years BS in EE Engineering or equivalent is required. AC and DC circuitry, voltage drop calculations and wire sizing. Ability to calculate Digital video bandwidth and storage capacity is a preferred. Decent knowledge of network and system security principles, not only in theory. Executing enterprise engineering techniques. Proven experience working as a lead engineer on a large project of more than $1M. Proven experience managing workload and pressure situations. Computer skills to include: AutoCAD, MS Office, Acrobat writer, Visio, Big Machines and Sales Force. Revit familiarity is a plus.
