NorthStar Energy Services is seeking an experienced, skilled, and enthusiastic Engineer to join the Professional Engineering Consulting team. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced team of professional engineers and designers who specialize in Energy Projects. POSITION SUMMARY: The Engineer for this position will be responsible for the development of design parameters including design concept, engineering criteria, equipment and instrumentation specifications, equipment selections, code interpretations and analysis as it pertains to the design of Energy Facilities. What You'll Do: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ENGINEERING Electrical Independently perform engineering analysis/calculations and facilitate design activities necessary to successfully execute the following Electrical elements: Area Classification Studies Arc Flash/Short Circuit Studies Protective Relay Coordination Studies Large Motor Starting Studies Electrical System Modeling utilizing ETAP Interconnect Wiring Diagrams Electrical Power Distribution and Control Equipment Sizing Voltage Drop Calculations Motor Control Schematics Application of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) One-Line Diagrams Conduit/Cable Schedules Conduit Design (AG, BG) Point-to-Point Wiring Diagrams Lighting Design PLC Loop Wiring Diagrams Equipment Grounding Design Electrical Equipment Specifications Electrical Load Analysis Independent technical review of project PPFDs and P&IDs Familiarity and experience in the application of the following codes/standards: Title 49 CFR Parts IEE IES NACE NEMA NFPA 70 (NEC) API RP 500 AGA XL101 DELIVERABLE MANAGEMENT Conduct quality review of drawings to ensure compliance with safety-first design practices, company standards and applicable industry codes. Coordinate and communicate project-specific deliverables with team members of all disciplines Research, review, and design integration of Company Standards, Municipality Requirements, and Regulatory Codes as it pertains to project deliverables Perform independent QA/QC of drawing deliverables Review other discipline deliverables to ensure design is properly executed and aligns with project objectives Perform field related work to obtain design pertinent information as needed Review and respond to project RFIs throughout project-life Review third-party vendor drawings to ensure compatibility with intended design Experience in field site assessments What You'll Bring: QUALIFICATIONS: GENERAL US citizen or Permanent Resident Select candidates will be required to participate in an in-person technical interview. SKILLS & ABILITIES Extreme attention to detail, process orientation, and relentless focus on accuracy with a sense of urgency towards project objectives. Strong work ethic and ability to establish priorities among project deliverables. Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to work independently or with engineering and design teams of other disciplines. Ability to react promptly and efficiently shift priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
