State And Local Tax Manager

HLB Gross Collins is looking for a State & Local Tax (SALT) Manager for our Atlanta, GA office. A career in SALT practice will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients solve their business issues related to business restructuring, adoption of new tax laws, and communicating local tax developments. You'll help with assessing our client's state and local tax burden and recommend solutions that support their overall business objectives. You will also ensure that compliance is consistent with good business practices and with the states applicable tax laws and rules. You'll help with identifying and exploring indirect tax opportunities and issues related to business expansion, systems and controls, refunds and cash flow, and policy and design.Position DescriptionDeliver profitable SALT services to our clients.Manage SALT practiceProvide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations with tax advice and consultationResearch and resolve technical state and local tax issuesPrepare technical memoranda and other client deliverablesManage tax assignments and related projectsPlan and coordinate the flow of information with the clientReview work papers and state tax returnsParticipate in the billing and collection processRecognize opportunities for providing additional services to clients, marketing technical specialty or expertise to clientCoach others and encourage them to take ownership of their development.Analyze complex ideas or proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations.QualificationsCPA licenseBS Degree in Accounting5+ years of current or recent experience in public accounting or corporate tax departmentFamiliarity with researching state tax laws and regulationsStrong communication and writing skillsTax compliance experiencebackground
