Develop, produce, and maintain production units according to industry standard.Duties and Responsibilities: May supervise and advise other Estimators and InternsAssist VP of Estimating with all project proposals as requestedAnalyze and evaluate project plans, specifications, scope, difficulty, and any other requirements necessary to prepare a job cost estimate and assemble bid packagesPrepare conceptual estimates andor budgetsPrepare accurate quantity take-offs and unit pricing using established company production ratesWhen quantity survey is complete; establish profit & overhead for project if requestedUse the Request for Information (RFI) process when information is lacking (document appropriately)Inform VP of Estimating of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in plans and specificationsMaintain in the job file, all correspondence records and notes for the project being bid (log all bid documents)Review and analyze all quotes to assure they meet the standards and specifications for the projectCommunicate with General Contractor's, owners, vendors, and tradesSecure vendor pricing and select vendors and subcontractors by their cost effectiveness for each projectCoordinate with vendors and subcontractors to completely cover scope in the most cost-effective wayImmediately respond to any vendor or subcontractor questions; resolve issues immediately and completelyGet written documentation on vendor and subcontractor quotesBe proficient in project principals, policies, and procedures and apply them during course of workParticipate in (and may lead) weekly planning meetings with estimating staffAssist PMs with Buyouts on projectsAssist Project Manager with purchasing and any change orders on projects estimated as requestedEnsure Quality AssuranceQuality Checks are always in placeJob close out and reviewAttend pre-job meetingsAttend all estimating meetingsAttend project job walks as assignedBe available on all bid days to assist in the collection and review of incoming quotesProvide value engineering as requestedWhile it is impossible to list every duty that may be asked of an employee, the Employer may ask that an employee do other duties as the business need arises.
