We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SALT Tax Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of state and local tax compliance and planning for our clients. This role requires a deep understanding of state and local tax laws, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to lead and develop a team.Key Responsibilities:Tax Compliance:Oversee the preparation and review of state and local tax returns for income, franchise, sales and use, and property taxes.Ensure all filings are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.Tax Planning:Develop and implement state and local tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities.Advise clients on the tax implications of their business decisions.Audit Support:Manage state and local tax audits, including responding to information requests and negotiating with tax authorities.Prepare and review audit documentation and represent clients in audit proceedings.Research and Analysis:Conduct thorough research on state and local tax issues.Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate relevant updates to clients and internal teams.Client Management:Build and maintain strong client relationships.Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on state and local tax matters.Provide high-quality, responsive service to clients.Team Leadership:Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals.Provide training and development opportunities to team members.Ensure the team's work is accurate, timely, and meets the firm's quality standards.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.CPA, MST, or other relevant certifications preferred.Experience:Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in state and local tax, preferably in a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department.Experience managing a team of tax professionals.Skills:Strong knowledge of state and local tax laws and regulations.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong leadership and team management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.Personal Attributes:Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
