THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND We're looking for passionate and empathetic people to join our team as Ophthalmic Scribe/Techs. Our Techs are responsible for all the pre-exam elements of the patient visit. This includes gathering and documenting patient information and history and conducting routine and ancillary patient testing. You'll play a vital role in the patients experience with OCLI and in helping our Dr's to diagnose and treat eye disorders. You'll play a vital role in the patient's experience with OCLI and in helping our doctors to diagnose and treat eye disorders. OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU You'll prepare the patient chart/EMR and room for exam based on the physician requirements and preferences. You'll document the patient's chart/EMR with patient history, testing, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, prescriptions, follow-ups, and any consultations/referrals to other practitioners. You'll educate the patient regarding testing, procedures, prescription instructions, etc. You'll serve as a work-up technician and perform accurate ophthalmic procedures and testing (auto-refraction; visual acuity; measure and record glasses; tonometry; pupils; dilate; HRT; VF; pachymeter; corneal topography; OCT; B-scan; keratometry; confrontation fields; administering eye drops or ointments). You'll test and record patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception You'll apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes and collect and process specimens for testing You'll triage emergency cases appropriately into physicians' schedule and maintain patient flow You'll prepare patient and procedure room and assist ophthalmologist with procedures as needed You'll perform first level maintenance on equipment and notify the office manager of any equipment malfunctions You will be expected to utilize, as appropriate, infection control techniques and universal precautions, and to maintain confidentiality at all times WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED You're an excellent communicator - both verbally and written You're outgoing, you love the idea of interacting with patients everyday You're comfortable providing white glove service and responding quickly to our patients needs You're a dependable problem solver - you're the one people call to keep cool in stressful situations You have a positive, can-do attitude and work well in collaborative environments You're flexible - you roll with the punches and easily accept change You're knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology such as anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics and cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories is a PLUS, but not a requirement While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
