Histology Research Laboratory Technician

Job Summary The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine's Center for Comparative Translational Research is seeking an Associate Research Technician. The successful candidate will perform basical histopathology techniques, prepare slides for imaging, provide laboratory administrative support, and communicate with histology research laboratory investigators. This position is integral to maintaining continuity of experimental pathology within the Center for Comparative Translational Research. The Histology Research Laboratory maintains an overall user base and services 120 independent laboratories at Purdue University, IPFW, Purdue Northwest, Indiana University and external collaborators with an average of 2,500 accessions annually. The user base of the Histology Research Laboratory is transdisciplinary and includes laboratories within 27 departments and colleges including the College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture, College of Engineering, College of Health and Human Sciences, College of Pharmacy, and College of Science. What We're Looking For: Education and Experience: Required: Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, biology, or a related field Ability to work independently Exposure to molecular biology and immunologic techniques Knowledge of laboratory techniques particularly titration Must be able to seek out and learn new techniques and develop methods independently Must have laboratory organizational skills and knowledge in desktop computer use Ability to manage high throughput computer programs Must be willing to work with cell and tissue samples obtained from research animals Preferred: Laboratory research experience Previous histology experience HT/HTL certification Additional Information: Purdue University will not sponsor employment authorization for this position A background check will be required for employment in this position FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for Overtime) Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contribution Waiting Period Benefit Statement: Purdue University offers a substantial Benefit Package including medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a generous paid time off package for sick and vacation days What You'll Get in Return: All university employees are afforded a generous benefits package including medical/dental/vision insurance, paid time off, and retirement contributions.
