Job SummaryThe Estimator I is responsible for estimating project costs for NELCO Radiation Shielding Systems. This role involves calculating costs associated with labor, materials, equipment, and overhead, as well as determining project timelines. The Estimator I will evaluate the project's scope, magnitude, and risks to develop cost-effective strategies and present detailed estimates to management and stakeholders.Job Responsibilities:· Review, interpret, and accurately estimate scope of work as described in the project documents· Requestobtain Bid Bonds as required· Review insurance and project requirements with the administrative team for compliance· Prepare quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for material and labor to establish a value for the work, prepare comprehensive bid evaluations, and submit detailed RFI's for items that require clarificationdefinition· Review strategy with project team during bid preparation and bid review meetings· Prepare NELCO proposals andor execute owner's bid form(s)· Package and deliver bid packages as required· Perform bid close-out procedures · Participate in project transfer meetings when projects are awarded· Ensure that ISO 9001 requirements are metQualifications and Skills:· Associate or bachelor's degree in a construction discipline preferred but not required· Minimum of 1-3 years estimating experience · Experience in the construction industry in an estimating capacity preferred· Strong ambition to succeed with a highly developed sense of professional ethics· Extreme attention to detail· Ability to work both on a team as well as independently· Strong organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to prioritize work assignments· Excellent written and verbal communications skills· Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills· Demonstrated ability to improve processes and create efficiencies· Ability to understand client, designer and subcontractor needs and expectations· Availability to work extended hours as required by project schedules or urgent circumstances· Ability to travel to sites and perform site assessments and work scopes as required· Solid knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel & Word primarily), Planswift take-off software and digital images (how to open, view, customize and print images)Physical DemandsWork EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other standard office equipment such as copy machines, phones, photocopier, fax machines and computer printers. The staff member in this position frequently communicates internally and externally; must be able to exchange accurate information via phone, email, andor in person. Specific vision abilities apply including close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. This position operates in a clerical office setting.
