Duties may include but are not limited to the following:Work with daily caseload of Children and Young Adults, ages 0-21 years oldProvides occupational therapy services in accordance with the California Business and Professions Code, Occupational Therapy Practice Act, and consistent with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Standards of Practice for Occupational TherapyEvaluates, assesses, plans, develops and utilizes occupational therapy programs to meet the functional needs of patientsCalifornia Children Services - Medical Therapy Program (CCS-MTP) therapists must participate in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process and represent the Medical Therapy ProgramMaintains current and appropriate documentationCoordinates occupational therapy programs with patients, families, andor caregivers and other team membersagencies involved in the care of assigned patientsApplies, modifies and fabricates, as needed, specific static and dynamic splints and adaptive equipment to improve functional outcomesSets functional goals for therapy in coordination with the prescribing physician, patient, caregiver andor familyProvides patient and family education to assist in the achievement of functional goalsParticipates in the maintenance of equipment and ordering adaptive equipmentsuppliesClinically supervises COTAstherapy aides, students and volunteersAssists in the educational process of students and new employeesServices are provided in Medical Therapy Units (MTU) in select public school sites. Services include:Medical Therapy Conferences to coordinate therapy needs.Occupationalphysical therapy.Consultation for equipment needs.QualificationsA Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of occupational therapy or proof of equivalency.Must obtain a certificate from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy within the probationary period.Must possess a current valid California Occupational Therapist license at time of hire and maintain it as a condition of continued employment.Possession of a valid California driver license and proof of auto insurance may be required.Possession of a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate by date of hire.
