Title: GIS Technician (Entry level)Location: Flint MI, Jackson MI, or close to those areasContract Duration: 1 yearPay Range: Up to $25hr depending on experience and qualificationsHybrid Schedule: MTTH onsite with WF optional from home.Open to candidates near Flint or Jackson MI areas.Travel up to 10% of time may be required depending on business need.Hours: M-F; 40hrs - Flexibility in schedule, which may include eveningsOverview:The GIS Technician performs the entry level work within the applicable discipline in Advanced Methane Detection (AMD). The Technician 1 work requires basic knowledge of standards and procedures, is skilled in basic problem solving and has good communication skills. A Technician is also responsible for data maintenance and cleanup and is required to work directly with a senior employeesupervisor for any unique situations or exceptions.Tasks for this role will include:Quality check drive dataRun reports on completed drivesMoving vehiclesData analyticsGIS DataGeoTabAssist with maintainingbuilding ESRI DashboardsField MapsOther non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary to help maintain other corporate GIS assets.Suggest Improvements to best practices and required critical processes; may help writemaintain various instruction manuals.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Provides backup department support.Prepares reports as directed from time to time.Maintains confidentiality.Under general direction, prepares special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other areas of the Company, etc.Ensures that requests for action or information are relayed to appropriate staff members; ensures that information is furnished in a timely manner; decides whether a higher authority should be notified of important or emergency matters.Follows all safety rules and procedures and contributes to the safety of co-workers and the general public.Participates as an active technical support team member by contributing to program development and organization planning.Willing and able to follow instructions, assist in training of co-workers, and cooperate with other employees and customers.Performs responsibilities in a manner that clearly shows effective communication and cooperation and that promotes open exchange of information, respect, high ethical standards and professionalism.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSGIS Certificate or related experience (OR 48 scientific or technical credit hours as measured on a semester basis).OTHER QUALIFICATIONS - These will set you apart:Proficiency in using ESRI softwareArcGIS Desktop ProArcGIS OnlineA bachelor's degree in GISMeet deadlines and make independent decisionsBe self-motivated with the ability to manage their workload effectively with little supervisionActively learn new skills, systems, and proceduresAnalytical, Dependable, Logical Thinking, Windows XP or later, Microsoft Office, GIS ConceptsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Geographical Information Systems or a related field is preferred
