Job Description About the Job Are you driven by solving complex problems, designing configurable systems to enable businesses across the globe to succeed, all while focusing on end users and business impact? Are you an experienced software designer and engineer looking to join a high-performing product team where your impact will be felt immediately? At Oracle Energy & Water, we work with some of the most advanced utilities in the world to help them leverage large volumes of data to meet the needs of a rapidly changing landscape. We are driven by helping utilities and their customers move toward a clean energy future, fundamentally changing the relationship between customers and their utilities, and anticipating the future of the utility industry. We are seeking an experienced software designer / engineer - the perfect blend of technical and functional - to join our team of product architects responsible for designing product functionality form front to back, working with product management, UX, and engineering. The right candidate will energize the team, foster collaboration across the organization, and lead the drive toward high-caliber, high-performing products in our data centers and at our client sites. Our responsibilities don't end with design; we advocate our functionality through demonstration, documentation, and curriculum, liaising with third parties as well as our clients in a cycle of continual improvement of our product offerings. You are seeking to shape the experience of the users of our software as well as that of the teams around the world implementing our products. Your attention to detail is renowned; your business logic design skills mean that you leave no loose ends, but you are pragmatic in your choices. You are used to the bulkiness of enterprise software for a complex, highly regulated industry, but you have the drive to challenge the enterprise software status quo. You thrive on being hands-on in the software, and you look for opportunities to improve the way things work. Your experience working with PM teams means you know how to clarify requirements and work towards consensus and compromise. If you identify with the qualities we've described here, we'd love to speak with you. Career Level - IC4 Responsibilities About the Team We're a small team (10-15) responsible for a large product footprint. We're passionate about designing elegant, configurable solutions. Together, we bring a broad set of skills and capabilities to our group, and we are always working to better integrate our talents in service of more effective solutions. What You'll Make Happen: Leverage your experience with Oracle Utilities Customer to Meter to get up to speed on the latest Oracle Energy & Water products, with particular focus on Customer Experience (CX) and leveraging both machine learning and generative AI technologies - not just for their own sake, but to address real user problems. Establish relationships with product management, UX, engineering, and knowledge management teams. Work with the managers of these teams to continually improve our design & development processes. Act as the user-advocate in cross-functional teams with product and engineering. Lead high-visibility hands-on design projects from concept through delivery. You have a track record of: Designing for the full stack - front to back. Working with highly configurable software toolkits, and designing features to allow just the right amount of flexibility for our clients and consultants. Improving processes and standards for product development. Explaining and advocating our software features to a broad audience from the management team to the engineering staff to our clients and partners. Jumping in and getting your hands dirty to help out with sales demos. Bringing the principles of user-centered design to your work, and not only for the user interface.
