Job Type Full-time Description Associate BSA & Operational Support Specialist DEPARTMENT: BSA, Compliance & Operational Support LOCATION: 288 Main Street Catskill, NY 12414 REPORTS TO: AVP, BSA & Fraud Manager SUPERVISES: None FLSA: Non-Exempt SALARY RANGE: $19 - $23 POSITION SUMMARY: The Associate BSA & Operational Support Specialist regularly assists the VP/AVP BSA & Operational Support Officers with the administration of the Bank's BSA /AML /CIP/ OFAC Program and bank wide operational support responsibilities. The Associate performs day to day tasks associated with financial crime and fraud prevention (BSA/AML/CIP/CDD/OFAC); IRA plan administration, deposit compliance; auditing & compliance review; and cybersecurity. The Associate will assist, as needed, with auditing tasks outside of the department and will be required to travel to other locations on occasion in support of these activities. The Associate assists bank employees outside of the department with answering operational and compliance related questions, and assisting with the resolution of operational and compliance related problems. The Associate is required to attend annual training and stay abreast of current financial crime scenarios and regulatory updates. This position requires the employee to exercise discretion and independent judgment when monitoring, investigating, analyzing and reporting transactional activity in accordance with all government regulations and the Bank's BSA/AML/ CIP/OFAC Program. Requirements EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or equivalent One (1) year of experience in retail banking, finance, audit, or law enforcement, or similar area within the private or public sector preferred. General knowledge of the industry's processes, procedures, products, and banking regulations (state and federal) with an ability to learn. Good written and verbal communication skills; and analytical and problem-solving skills. Basic knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Office software and Internet Must have good interpersonal skills MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate position will assist in the review and analysis of transaction monitoring alerts to determine patterns and trends consistent with money laundering, fraud, and/or suspicious activities. This includes: reviewing and clearing alerts, generating and reviewing various transaction reports; completing assigned investigations; and preparing SAR documentation as requested. Review Currency Transaction Reports (CTR's), assist with CTR Exemption tracking and monitoring. Complete OFAC and wire transfer reviews; and reviewing and clearing OFAC alerts. Complete data entry and maintain department logs and files including, but not limited to: large cash logs, OFAC logs, monetary instrument logs, transacting person logs. Collect and review Reg CC Exception reports and notices, review and maintain Reg D reports and notices. Complete regularly scheduled customer enhanced due diligence reviews. Assist with administration of the Bank's IRA portfolio. Calculating and processing required minimum distributions daily/monthly/annually. Ensuring IRA documentation is on file and reviewed for accuracy. Coordinating Bank wide mailings of IRA statements, IRS form 5498, IRS form 1099R and Required Minimum Distribution notifications. Perform quality assurance testing and review on new accounts and customer/transaction data; conduct database searches; and perform core system maintenance to ensure data integrity. Coordinate and participate in annual surprise branch cash counts. Assist with maintaining non-resident alien documentation and files, including compliance with 1042S annual mailings and ensuring that current W8 Ben forms are on file. Scan and compile information in preparation for audits and regulatory exams. Assist other departmental staff with the delivery of compliance related live training to internal staff as necessary. Maintain and ensure timely review, processing and compliance with all legal documentation coming into the Bank. This includes, but is not limited to restraining notices, tax and child support garnishments, and information subpoenas. Provide support and testing related to the maintenance of bank software. Participate on various technology projects as assigned. Attend internal and external training as required. Ability to travel within the Capital District and Hudson Valley with reliable transportation. Must possess and maintain a valid driver license; and cell phone access. Employees are expected to meet all compliance requirements as stated within the Bank's BSA/AML/CIP/OFAC Program. Failure to meet these compliance standards may adversely affect performance appraisals and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Employee's compliance violations may result in termination, individual fines, and possible imprisonment.
