Employment Type: Full time Shift: Description: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Demonstrates professional, appropriate, effective and tactful written, verbal, and nonverbal communication with patient, families, medical staff, colleagues, vendors, and other departments throughout the continuum of care to promote continuity of care and services and enhance clinic image. · Demonstrates positive professional customer service in all patient, staff, and visitor contacts · Utilizes interpersonal skills to establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships with healthcare members, patients, and families. · Acknowledges patient's rights on confidentiality issues, maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and follows HIPAA guidelines and regulations. · Participates in staff development activities and orientation as requested. · Proactively acts as patient advocate, responding to and working to resolve patient concerns. · CPR certified. · Responsible for following equipment maintenance protocol, identifying problems, and coordinating appropriate repairs. · Operation of various office machines (i.e. fax, copier, phone, and computer). · Participates effectively as a team member in the clinic. Nursing/PCT · Demonstrates ability to recognize and assess emergency needs of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures as needed. · Demonstrates current level of knowledge of various payor regulations by functioning within those guidelines. · Acts to facilitate interdisciplinary communication. Utilizes other members of the health care team in assessing the patient and analyzes patient data. Assesses learning needs of the patient and significant others. Gives accurate and complete information to patient and family. · Evaluates patient and family understanding of treatment plan and/or instructions. · Maintains appropriate aseptic technique. · Accurately and legibly documents all patient interactions in patient record · Reports results and pertinent information to patients and health care team members. · Performs basic clinical duties such as rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, height and weight, and collection of basic patient data in the clinic or on the telephone as assigned. · Assists with a variety of minor procedures, collects and labels lab specimens according to protocol and performs basic lab and clinic testing procedures (i.e. EKG, glucometer, typanometry, and spirometry) · Transports patients as necessary · Assists with room preparation in between patient visits. · Communicates changes/information regarding patient's condition to the clinical staff. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: · Work includes cross coverage in other clinic areas as team needs. · Maintains supply inventory and stocks supplies in various work areas. · Participates in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate. · Maintains orderly, neat appearance of work area. · Misc. office duties (i.e. copying, filing, retrieval of films/medical records) · Assists with nursing chart audits. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: · Completion of one of the following: o A 75-hour/120-hour certified Nursing Assistant Program o A 136-hour certified EMT program. o An accredited Medical Assistant Program. o An accredited Radiography Technology Program (for limited radiography) and possess a State of Iowa Limited Radiographer Certification. · High School diploma or GED. · 18 years of age. · CPR Certification (obtained within 6 months of start date).
