Virginia State Police (VSP) is looking for a Senior Data Scientist with 6+years of experience performing complex data analysis and creating management and statistical reports for the Criminal and Rap Back Information System (CRIS) project. The incumbent will perform complex data research and analysis for CRIS, and creates data to support system testing including interface testing. The incumbent will serve as the Team Leader for two teams - a test data team and a Microsoft Power BI reports team. The incumbent will collaborate with CRIS suppliers, interface partners, the VSP Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and Information Technology (IT) Divisions to extract, scrub, pre-position and utilize test data in coordination with test plans and activities. The incumbent will coordinate test data management with the VSP Information Security Officer (ISO). The incumbent will research and document report requirements and develop Power BI reports. These duties involve the following: Assists with the development of test plans and test cases; analysis of each test case and applicable test data requirements and sources; leads all aspects of test data management in the CRIS and interface partner test environments; develops and maintains an inventory of CRIS reports; collaborates with stakeholders to refine the purpose of each report and "look and feel" preferences. Candidates for this position are required to have extensive experience developing Power BI reports and experience developing system test plans. Also, candidates for this position should possess strong leadership skills, strong organization, administrative, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills; be self-motivated and able to develop rapport and positive working relationships with coworkers and the agency at large; have prior experience implementing cloud-hosted Software As A Service (SaaS) solutions; be able to manage security access and user profile management; be able to work collaboratively with various groups within VSP and VSP vendors to ensure requirements are vetted and documented; be able to analyze functional/nonfunctional system requirements; possess excellent communication skills in English and the ability to communicate with internal customers in nontechnical terms; be proficient with Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint). Candidates should highlight any experience working on criminal justice projects. The incumbent must work full-time onsite at VSP headquarters, North Chesterfield.
