Position Specific Summary Personal Trainers will develop fitness programs to meet client goals, create exercise programs, attend all required training and meetings. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs. Responsibilities: Conduct new client orientation and goal evaluations Develop personalized fitness programs to meet client goals Create safe and effective exercise programs Ability to create exercise programs for a wide variety of clientele and has knowledge in injury prevention and management Ability to keep accurate and detailed records of programs Able to market independently for new clientele and knowledge in promotion Ability to work well with other staff and thrive in a team environment Attend regular continuing education and workshops provided by GW Campus Recreation Hold active certifications (as specified above) and update certifications as needed throughout tenure Standard Position Description The student will provide athletic training services for university events or for personal training. Tasks may include: Athletic event trainers will provide on-site supervision and care for "high-risk" club home games/matches, care for injuries that occur on the field, determine whether a participant can return to play during that game; and coordinate all medical referrals requiring advanced medical care. Personal trainers will develop fitness programs to meet client goals, create exercise programs, attend all required training and meetings. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs. Professional Outcomes Critical Thinking, Communication, Professionalism, Inclusion Required Qualifications Athletic event trainers: National certification(s) through the NATA BOC (National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification), two years of experience working as a certified athletic trainer in a sport/recreation setting, active First Aid/CPR/AED certification Personal trainers: Required certification(s) through a highly recognized professional organization (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NSCA, or NASM), active First Aid/CPR/AED certification Preferred Qualifications Personal Trainers should be motivated, coachable, enthusiastic, dependable team players who have the primary responsibility of assisting clients with meeting their movement needs. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background and interest in Exercise Science with one or more certifications.
