Fontaine Modification Company (FMC) provides post-production modifications to commercial vehicles that bridge the gap between what OEMs can mass produce and what the customer needs to put the trucks to work. Products range from dual steering conversions, electric drivetrain installations, and extensive cab modifications to corporate graphics applications for large fleets. Locations adjacent to the OEM assembly plants allow vehicles to remain in the factory delivery system for nationwide distribution of "work-ready" trucks. Since 1985, we have been the commercial truck modification leader. Our in-depth technical and engineering expertise, coupled with our process quality and service capabilities, enables our customers to move their trucks into operation faster and with greater reliability. We have ship-thru agreements with the leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to maximize end-user convenience and minimize delivery costs. These ship-thru arrangements expedite final delivery time from factories to destination with minimal financial impact. We provide engineering solutions to meet customers' unique requirements and specific applications, all while adhering to federal safety standards. The IT Intern will work with the IT team on a variety of specific projects and areas as noted below. This position will report directly to the Director of IT but will have exposure to the wider business teams. Interns will complete a capstone type project over the summer culminating in a presentation to business leadership. Key Projects: Work with stakeholders to identify and document business challenges, processes, and functional requirements Work with stakeholders and IT staff to brainstorm, plan, and implement technology solutions that solve real-world business problems Work with users on improving business and IT operations by implementing effective processes and business workflows by establishing best practices and technical workflow solutions Operate in the role of a project coordinator; creating, updating, and distributing project related documents (milestone and/or project plan, project operational workbook, issues/decision list, etc.) Analyze and deconstruct processes to determine value, identify opportunities, and predict effects of potential interventions/process changes Help drive adoption of technology through training and one-on-one consultation Facilitate meetings to explain analysis and opportunities for improvement Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business decisions Required Education and Experience: Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Information Technology or related field Rising junior or senior Strong interest in applying IT knowledge to practical problems Ability to comply with deadlines Problem solving and critical thinking skills Excellent organizational skills Interest in technology and process improvement Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint No previous experience required Certain peak periods may provide opportunity for overtime. This is a paid position. The internship will run for 12 weeks from May to August. Exact dates flexible based on school schedules.
