If you're interested in this exciting opportunity, we encourage you to apply for this position and become a valued member of the GCRTA team!DutiesThe Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is looking for a motivated Workers' Compensation and Disability Claims Examiner. Under the direction of the Director of Risk Management, this position reviews and processes employee injuryoccupational disease claims to determine compensability under Ohio Workers' Compensation laws. Review news bulletins and attend seminars to stay current on changes in Ohio WC law and changes in Industrial Commission and BWC rules for self-insurers; Handles medical payments and compensation payments; Processes reactivation of previous claims. Responds to and processes Industrial Commission orders. Handles claims for permanent partial disability; Reviews requests for change of physicians; Processes hearing notices and motions requesting additional allowance or other action on claims. Supports legal department in preparation for attendance at hearings as well as handling any WC related lawsuits. Handles claims for short-term disability for employees up to Grade 6; Handles subrogation process from original notice to employee, Attorney and third parties. This position will promote a safe and secure atmosphere, follow all safety and security rules and perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum RequirementsApplicant must have a high school diploma or its GED equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum 3 years of workers' compensation claims processing experience including making determination as to compensability of claims is required, self-insured employer experience preferred. Applicants must possess superior oral, written communications and interpersonal skills capable of dealing with all levels of personnel including discussions with attorneys, physicians and other involved parties. Knowledge of workers' compensation return-to-work programs, standards, procedures and guidelines required.
