Spectrum Healthcare Partners is Maine's largest multi-specialty, physician-owned and directed professional organization and comprises over 200 physicians practicing in the areas of anesthesiology, orthopedics, pain management, pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and vascular & interventional services. Spectrum provides services at many of Maine's hospitals throughout the state and in eastern New Hampshire. This position is in a busy pre-admission testing department of our Orthopaedic day surgery center in Portland, ME. Monday-Friday.POSITION SUMMARYThe Pre-Admission Testing MA is responsible for performing a variety of duties in both the clinical and administrative areas focusing on the delivery of quality patient care. Includes assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. This position acts as a liaison between patients and the Orthopaedic Surgery Center by facilitating communication and bridging the gap between the Clinical Area and the Orthopaedic Surgery Center. The medical assistant functions under the license of the provider and demonstrates competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care within their scope of practice and according to organizational policies, accrediting and licensing bodies.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSGreets all patients and families in a polite, prompt and helpful manner while maintaining professional behavior and adherence to organizational valuesProvides direct patient care Assists physician with the health/physical assessment processAssists in the documentation and education of the patient in their plan of careAccurately and timely documents patient care services by charting in the patient record.
