FT: Engineering, Product Engineer, Jamestown JOB DESCRIPTION: Supply shop drawings to Sales and Project Managers as needed. o Analyze and interpret scope and material requirements. o Make decisions on material that are not clearly defined in customer specification. o Make decisions on hardware to be used for best fit and function to meet the customer expectations. o Make decisions on methods to be used for Joinery and production process. Produce drawings as needed for Materials/Purchasing Department. o These drawings become the standard in which the product will be produced. o The decisions for successful execution of the products are the responsibility of the Engineer assigned to the project. Generate Production drawings and Bills of Material (BOM) in an accurate and timely fashion as required for Production and Materials/Purchasing. o BOM Should contain the entire material requirement for the products. o The engineer defines if extra materials should be purchased due to unforeseen or material variables. o Board Materials are available in several size sheets. It is the responsibility of the Engineer to run all parts through the optimizer to decide and determine material size to purchase. This must also be balanced with lead time and cost constraints. Hold meetings as necessary with Production Planners, Project Managers, and Sales Personnel to ensure that product details are in line with the customers and manufacturing expectations. o It is the Engineers responsibility to recognize and determine if certain meetings are required. o It is the responsibility of the Engineers to also recognize and decide if he or she needs guidance or recommendations. Research and special materials required to meet the customers specifications. Maintain and organize all engineering information for future reference. Support Tooling Department with drawings of special tooling as required. o Engineering is to research and decide what special tools are to be used. Periodic review of projects on the plant floor to ensure specifications and requirements are met. o Decisions on QC are to be made by Engineering with the customer expectations in mind. Obtain a complete understanding of engineering software and its interaction with shop equipment. o There are several ways to implement the Microvellum software in our production process. It is the Engineers responsibility to utilize the best way for the best outcome. Review and utilize engineering file prepared by sales and proposal. Review customers specifications and use as a design tool. Interact and communicate with customers as project dictates. o Steer the customer to a manufactured process to ensure a successful outcome for both the Customer and Manufacturing. Requisition all necessary purchased & stock material purchasing. Support R&D initiatives. o Engineering is responsible to make recommendations and adjustments to better execute for the customer and manufacturings needs. Design products utilizing AutoCAD while following prototype and drawing standards. Prepare customer approval drawings. Assist manufacturing personnel as needed. o Guide the process and needs to match decisions previously made. o Decide if adjustment to engineered product is needed. Work with purchasing to expedite materials when needed. o Make decisions on alternate materials when not available or pricing constraints need to be met. Perform an In House engineering run off, debug, and resolve any problems before customer run-off. Responsible to support job in the field during the start-up and through the warranty period. o Make recommendations and determinations on installation process and requirements. Manage the Reliability and Maintainability issues for assigned jobs to meet Quality requirements. Assist in the training of new engineering employees. Project work as assigned.
