Paraprofessional staff must be able to quickly respond to staff requests and effectively run a classroom during substitute teaching assignments. Paraprofessional staff must practice positive and professional behavior during all daily interactions.RESPONSIBILITIES Apply the principles of behavioral science to assist the education and management of studentsRun and assist data-driven practiceAssist with Precision Teaching activitiesAssist with data recording (such as IEP or behavior data)Use data to make decisionsAssist with explicit instructionApply Mathetics to assist daily instructionAssist with direct instruction programs and techniquesAssist with habit training dutiesAssist with the management of studentsImplement principles of behavioral science to effectively manage student behaviorAdhere to the classroom management tier assigned to each studentCorrectly and appropriately use prescribed crisis intervention programSupervise and execute school activities inside and outside the classroomAssist in maintaining a safe and effective classroom environmentImplement data-based decision makingUse formal academic and behavior data to assist with interventionsPHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS Must possess the ability to perform non-violent crisis intervention techniques, including verbal and physical redirection and guidance of potentially physically aggressive students during crisis situations. Must possess the ability to react quickly and be sufficiently mobile to redirect students that could be injurious to themselves or others, i.e. stop a child from running out of a building, physically redirect a child with severe behaviors, etc. Must be able to physically assist with evacuating students during emergency situations.
