Pinellas County's Economic Development Department is seeking a Craftworker 2 to assist in the maintenance of the Young-Rainey Science, Technology, and Research (STAR) Center. The STAR Center facilities team provides professional in-house and contracted services to maintain and operate this facility. The Craftworker 2 position, A Journeyman level maintenance technician position, requires knowledge and experience of the installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of building systems including but not limited to trades such as plumbing/mechanical piping, HVAC, electrical, Roofing repairs (hydro-stop install, etc.), and interior finishes. The employee in this position may be required to provide leadership and supervision over one or more peers or vendors as needed on short-term projects. The position will be located at the STAR Center, 7887 Bryan Dairy Road, Largo, F 33777. Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. What You Would Do Perform the installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing and mechanical systems within large facilities Perform preventative maintenance on electronic or pneumatic metering valves for plumbing systems. Clearing clogged drains using snakes and/or a jetting machine. Perform skilled work in one or more complex combinations of assignments in construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and buildings systems. Performs carpenter duties to maintain, repair and construct a wide variety of structures using wood, other materials, assemblies, drywall and the entire range of construction materials and products. Communicate the status of work assignments and manage your timecard using a computer. Assist mechanics in operation, maintenance and repair of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment. Purchase, plan, and order a wide range of construction and maintenance materials, supplies, and inventory necessary for a project. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and equipment diagrams. Erect drywall, ceiling grids and painting. What You Need to Have 5 years of skilled craft or trade experience in 1 or more of following trades; HVAC, carpentry, drywall/painting and coatings, and plumbing, plus documented skill competency in designated trade(s) with team leader, supervision, or supervisory training experience; or Completion of a 2-year vocational and training certification or diploma in a related field and at least 3 years skilled craft or trade experience in 1 or more of following trades; HVAC, carpentry, drywall/painting and coatings, and plumbing, plus documented skill competency in designated trade(s) with team leader, supervision, or supervisory training experience; or An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver's License. Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations. Highly Desirable 3 - 5 years of knowledge and experience in maintaining and repairing various building systems. 3 - 5 years of knowledge and experience in maintaining and repairing commercial plumbing systems. The ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair building systems with use of blueprints and schematics. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of tools, power tools and materials used in skilled trade work. Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, equipment, and practices used in building, electrical and mechanical work. Knowledge of work hazards and safety associated with crafts, trades and facilities work. Skill to use standard hand tools, machines and equipment used in building trades and facility repair. Ability to plan and execute facility maintenance or construction work plans. Ability to read prints and schematics, draw sketches of projects and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to complete basic recordkeeping and simple math. Ability to endure long periods of standing, walking or working in inclement weather and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to lift and move heavy objects. Ability to detect problems and repair machinery and equipment. Ability to work from oral or written instructions, broken parts or basic diagrams and sketches. Ability to supervise helpers to maintain or repair work, keep basic records and do heavy manual work. Ability and strength to climb ladders and perform heavy manual labor for extended periods. Ability to troubleshoot defects in machinery and equipment operation, make proper repairs and adjustments, complete assignments. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, equipment diagrams, draw sketches of proposed projects, plan assignments, order materials and understand and follow oral and written instructions.
