SUMMARY The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for managing all engineering deliverables for our solar and energy storage projects. They will manage this through internal and external engineering resources. The Senior Project Engineer will support projects from early planning, through design and construction and will serve as the primary technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, vendors, consultants, and the broader HQC US team. This position reports to the Head of Engineering, or another senior management personnel that the CEO may designate. This position location will be hybrid and based out of our Teanek, NJ office. 25% travel required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position Serve as technical point of contact for internal and external project stakeholders, including project managers, owners, construction managers, vendors, and consultants. Create and manage engineering project schedule to ensure all required engineering activities and deliverables are completed on schedule. Manage communication, contracts, and recovery plans for any scope or schedule changes. Establish and maintain metrics to quantitatively characterize project status Lead and/or participate in regular project meetings to ensure alignment between stakeholders on engineering progress, needs, risks, and roadblocks and to ensure engineering is supporting the project needs. Keep meeting minutes for all technical aspects of project meetings. Provide regular written updates on engineering activities and progress for assigned projects Track and follow up on action items for engineering team in support of assigned projects Anticipate the needs of the assigned projects and proactively obtain needed information to allow project to continue without interruption Review contract documents for scope of work and technical requirements and support outgoing proposals to design Manage relationships, communication, RFP's, and contracts with outsourced engineering/technical consultants and vendors. Assist in the development and review of energy production models, project schedules, cost estimation, bill of materials, budgets, scopes of work, standards, and supplier quotes. Provide responses to RFI's and submittals and/or route to appropriate reviewers to ensure timely responses from engineering. Work with team to develop and improve systems and standards to enhance efficiency and quality Assist with training for team members and new employees. Supervising compliance with project specific standards and with quality management system. Drive a safety culture that embraces both a "Responsibility to act" and "Show by Example" approach Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 6+ years of relevant experience in the solar or renewables industry 8+ years of total engineering experience Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or another related engineering science, with the working knowledge within several fields of engineering Passionate about renewable energy and advancing the solar industry Experience designing solar energy systems Experience with complete lifecycle of design-build projects NABCEP certification PMP certification Strong understanding of solar PV systems and components, power systems, distribution service, and utility interconnections Experience with project scheduling and associated tools - such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or P6 Knowledge of the National Electric Code and other industry codes and standards Demonstrates a willingness and ability to maintain documents and databases in an organized and accurate fashion Demonstrates proactiveness and initiative in their work Manages own workload and priorities effectively Actively seeks ways to improve how their work and the work of the teams around them is done Proficiency with Smartsheet, Procore, and Bluebeam Revu Proficiency with MS Office applications Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and Sharepoint Demonstrates expert oral and written communication skills through clear and concise discussions and writing.
