Assistive Technology Specialist Qualifications: Experience/interest in working with individuals who have various disabilities Demonstrate effective communication and instructional skills with clients and colleagues Demonstrate skills in time management, data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets Training and/or experience in assistive technology Ability and willingness to work as a team member with a variety of service providers Willingness to take instruction and direction from supervisors Must have and maintain a dependable means of transportation Ability and willingness to lift, maintain and clean equipment Education Requirements: Reports to: Western KS Assistive Technology Coordinator Kansas Assistive Technology State Coordinator Job Goal: To provide assistive technology services to referred children/students/adults who may benefit from the use of assistive technology to increase, maintain and/or improve their functional capabilities. To manage an assistive technology device loan and lease program with current equipment. To offer training and support to multidisciplinary members of assisted technology devices and services. Coordinate services with other resources in the state. Performance Responsibilities: Network with service providers, clients, and /or families to identify appropriate assistive technology referrals and coordinating services. Review assistive technology referrals and arrange for and/or provide assessments as indicated by the client's needs. Assist in securing assistive technology equipment. Provide training and information for assistive technology equipment and/or software. Provide follow-up to clients on AT equipment and/or software to insure optimal use. Collect and/or enter data as required and provide reports as requested by the supervisor. Provide information and/or funding options for AT services and/or equipment as requested by the supervisor and/or administration. Provide assistive technology trainings and public awareness activities. Report to base offices in Oakley or Garden City while providing services to clients in Western Kansas. Collaborate with KS Assistive Technology Sites to provide services as outlined in the ATK Grants. Evaluate and Maintain Equipment as outlined in the ATK manual Attend trainings, conferences, webinars and ATK meetings to enhance skills and abilities necessary to perform the job effectively. Research and keep up to date on AT devices and software. The list is not exhaustive of all the tasks required, but it covers most of the key responsibilities. Terms of Employment: 40 hours per week/12 months/ 243 days Evaluation: The performance of this position will be evaluated by the Western KS AT Coordinator
