Job Description Purpose of Position: All Laboratory Technologist Generalists must meet the requirements of the New York State Health Code, Part 58-1.5, and must demonstrate prior training and/or experience in the Hematology and Chemistry area before he/she be employed, which are acceptable to the Director of Pathology. Duties and Responsibilities: Train laboratory interns and demonstrate techniques. Check the performance of the analyzers by running quality controls as per SOPM. Perform remedial action of quality control as per SOPM. Perform required preventive maintenance: daily, weekly, and/or monthly Document all remedial action. Call critical lab reports (out-patients and in-patients) Perform CAP and NYSDOH proficiency testing (same as patient testing). Follow the proficiency testing policy. Follow Infection Control Safety procedures; use proper PPE during working hours. Do inventory control (Chemistry and Hematology) Perform parallel studies of reagents and controls as per the policy. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations. Communicate all issues to the supervisor Troubleshoot all analyzers Validate and verify all laboratory results Enter results in LIS Calibrate instruments as per protocol Assist in the evaluation of new or modified techniques and methods Document daily refrigerator and freezer temperatures Keep the working area neat and clean at all times, disinfect your working station at the end of each day Practice "down-time" procedure when needed Perform Special stains Use and maintain microscopes appropriately IL Coagulation analyzer and Tests ( PT/INR, APTT, Fibrinogen, D-Dimer, Mixing Studies) Siemens Sysmex CBC analyzer and tests Siemens AUI Urine analyzer and testing (Urine Chemistry and Microscopy) Architect HIV analyzer Virology Cepheid analyzer and tests (COVID, FLU A/B, RSV, C-Diff) β-hCG Manual Differential Malaria Stain, count, and differentiation. Fluid cell count and differential (all body fluids including CSF & Synovial fluids) Semen analysis Special stains TEG analyzer GenMark RP2 analyzer Manual Tests (Retic, Sickle cell, manual cell count, etc.) Roche Cobas Analyzer: - Complete Metabolic Panel - Hepatic panel - Urine toxicology - TDM tests - Quantitative β-hCG tests - BNP - COVID Antibody - Troponin Gen Premier 5000 Analyzer: Blood gas and Electrolyte tests Osmometer and tests FFN analyzer and tests Qualitative and Quantitative β-hCG tests Check incomplete daily and per tour Document parallel studies and tests with new reagents and controls Assist in validation studies Assist with new instrument validation and testing Check daily monitoring records: Temperature, centrifuge, freezer, incubator.... Any additional duties and/or new tests Minimum Qualifications 1. Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by the NYSED.
