Unit: 5 West- COVID # Beds 33 Nurse:Patient Ratios Day 1:5-6 (Could go up to 7); Nights 1:6-7 Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS Common diagnoses/Types of patients Adult med/surg/telemetry COVID/COVID rule out patients. Sees all types of adult patient populations with diverse comorbidities. Will see high flow oxygen systems. Experience or 'Must have' skills IV drips listed below, and any Covid experience is helpful, 1 Year of Experience Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips Take multiple IV drips including amiodarone, Cardizem, insulin, heparin, labetalol, and nitro. Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes, The lead RN will only take an assignment if ratios are increased RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Will see high flow oxygen systems, Stable Cpap, Bipap, nasal cannula, high flow oxygen, optiflow Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Phillips monitors Yes We do have Tele Techs monitoring our patients on tele-RNs are required to read their own strip and document this once per shift. Shifts & Scheduling Shift start 7-7, schedule is out 6 weeks in advance, manager will create schedule Weekend Requirements they will work every other weekend, Days- Saturday & Sunday, and Nights- Friday & Saturday Holiday Requirements Yes Floating Requirements All nurses must work COVID. Will float to all like units Possible to float to Bellevue Medical Center as well to like units. Scrub Color/Dress code Grey Scrub tops that have the Nebraska Medicine logo from Life Uniform here in Omaha. They can buy the scrub bottoms anywhere. We also have a company store here at main campus that has Nebraska Medicine t-shirts, coats and sweatshirts they can wear at work. Unit/Department specific orientation 1 Shadow shift on the unit.
