Electrical Designer Field EngineerPhiladelphia, PA - $70,000 to $100,000 Annual (DOE)**No Sponsorship or C2C Available at This Time**JOB DESCRIPTIONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, andor ability required.Process approved engineering documents using the standard Documentation Control System (DCS) to register documents and maintain the database as requiredSupport the development of detailed design work package documentation, such as the fabrication drawings, installation drawings, installation standards, and material lists for release to production; this may include design sub-contractor oversightParticipate in outfitting design activities within the Electrical Engineering Department, which includes, but is not limited to, the detailed review of the design to confirm the design is complete, accurate, and complies with shipyard electrical outfitting design standards, building methods, vessel contract specifications as well as Class, USCG and other regulatory body rules and regulationsProvide field engineering support as required to support production activities by troubleshooting production concerns that arise during vessel construction.Provide feedback to Electrical Basic and Electrical Outfitting Designers based on issues encountered in the field including installation difficulties, missing materialequipment, hardware requirements, testing requirements, and technical specificationsProvide field corrections and repair instructions for electrical outfitting items and develop Design Change Notice (DCN) documentation to formally implement repairs, improvements, or other corrections to the designResponsible for downloading, organizing, filing, and distributing project-related electrical outfitting design documentsMaintain working knowledge and monitor the development of classification and regulatory rules and requirements pertaining to electrical outfitting designTravel domestically and internationally to coordinate efforts of design partners and vendors to facilitate the progress of basic and outfitting design, and resolve outstanding design issues.Perform other related duties as required and assigned COMPETENCIES:Excellent written and presentation skills coupled with strong interpersonal and team-building capabilities across different functional areas and culturesDecision MakingProblem SolvingStrong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracyWillingness and ability to work as a team memberEDUCATION AND EXPEREIENCE:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred, however, candidates with a technical diploma andor 5+ years of experience in ship design andor construction are requiredMinimum 5 years experience in shipbuilding, system design, or manufacturingExperience with electrical systems or electrical design and construction Proficiency with MS Office and CAD systems such as AutoCAD is a plusKnowledgeexperience concerning basic and detail ship designKnowledgeexperience concerning modern shipbuilding practicesExperience with Classification Society Rules for New Construction, IMO Regulations, and US Coast Guard requirements as well as International experience or familiarity with European andor Asian Shipbuilding Standards
