Job Description Summary Design and testing of new and existing products and assisting with the planning and direction for Design Engineering to meet Link-Belt goals of Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery. Essential Job Functions Design or redesign component assemblies and parts of new and existing machines Service as Design Project Leader and Cross Functional Team Leader when assigned Provide status reports as needed Generate cost effective designs Establish project time estimates Write project appropriations Write test plans Plan and supervise test of new and redesigned products Perform a full range of theoretical calculations and select the most appropriate materials Be aware of and keep up to date on applicable crane codes and standards (SAE, ISO, PCSA, etc.) Be aware of machine field service problems and take corrective action Direct and check the work of others on specific projects or sub-projects (drawings, calculations, bill of materials, etc.) Provide technical guidance to others inside and outside the department Ensure organization and maintenance of machine calculations Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Four (4) year college degree Program of Study BS in an engineering discipline (preferably mechanical) Experience Minimum of four (4) year of proven design experience in the crane industry or seven (7) years in the heavy equipment industry Knowledge General knowledge of mechanical engineering practices and principles General knowledge of design drafting standards Experience with and knowledge of CAD software (both 2D and 3D), and engineering bill of material Knowledge of SAE Crane standards and ISO 9000 principles Working knowledge of manufacturing practices Skills Proficient in us of Microsoft products and MS project Proficient in the usage of industry standard 3D CAD systems (I-DEAS 2D and 3D) Attention to detail to check drawings, EO's, bill of materials, etc) Abilities Must work well under pressure and meet deadlines Preform engineering calculations using mathematics, algebra, trigonometry, and geometry Be able to work with frequent interruptions and communicate effectively with relevant members of the departments of Link-Belt
