Client Overview Our client is a purpose-driven medical-device startup. They believe all patients deserve to receive the best level of care. They are developing cutting-edge technologies that help achieve this goal, and benefit clinicians and patients. Their goal is to improve vision by reinventing ophthalmic diagnostics. They have the technologies, tools, determination, and people to achieve our ambitious goal. Position Overview Our client is seeking an experienced FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) design engineer to join their engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of RFSoC (Radio Frequency System-on-Chip) -based systems, ensuring high performance and efficient resource utilization. You will work on complex FPGA systems, integrating them with embedded processors and high-speed interfaces, and will be involved in all stages of the development process, from architectural design to system validation. This position requires strong expertise in FPGA development, RF signal processing, and system integration, along with a commitment to innovation and excellence in engineering practices. Key Responsibilities Architect and design RFSoC-based systems, ensuring they meet performance, scalability, and integration requirements across a broad range of applications, including communication, signal processing, and data acquisition. Design and implement complex FPGA systems for RFSoCs, ensuring high performance and efficient resource utilization. Develop and optimize digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms and RTL code using VHDL/Verilog for speed and latency, applying advanced synthesis and place-and-route techniques. Integrate FPGA designs with embedded processors and high-speed interfaces, ensuring seamless system integration and communication. Create and execute comprehensive verification plans, including simulation and hardware emulation, to validate FPGA designs against performance and functional requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve complex FPGA and system-level issues using advanced debugging tools and methodologies. Lead system-level integration, ensuring cohesive operation of hardware and software components. Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of RFSoC systems, including RF performance and system functionality. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering innovation and adherence to best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive system design and contribute to architecture discussions. Stay updated on industry trends and technologies, incorporating new tools and techniques to enhance FPGA development. Create and maintain detailed design documentation, test plans, and user manuals. Other duties tasks and duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in FPGA development using VHDL/Verilog and HLS tools. 5+ years of experience in RFSoC design and implementation, FPGA design, or related fields. Strong background in high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, and USB. Proven experience in signal processing, including design, simulation, and implementation on FPGA devices. Familiarity with RF circuit design and integration, including working with ADCs, DACs, and RF components. Proficiency in digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms. Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux. Experience in developing and executing FPGA and firmware test plans, understanding DFT (Design For Test) capabilities, and using testing methodologies and equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal analyzers. Knowledge of automated testing and scripting using Python or similar languages is a plus. Knowledge of power management, signal integrity, and PCB design for high-speed systems. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to effectively convey complex technical information. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with experience in cross-functional collaboration and understanding of product requirements. Compensation: Up to $140k Our client acknowledges that equal opportunity for all persons is a fundamental human value.
