About the job AV Commissioning Engineer Summary/Objective: The AV Commissioning Engineer will be an integral part our global engineering team, offering freedom and flexibility as well as a different working environment most days. This is a remote (work from home) and onsite role as needed. Working across a number of different client sites you will use your engineering skills and technical knowledge to commission and integrate video-conference and AV equipment, as well as completing preventative maintenance checks, diagnosis and repair. Essential Functions: Working with the Operations team, project managers and programmers in providing complete, fully functional integrated audio-visual systems. Interfaces with assigned project manager, client contacts and all Tech-Ops and Engineering staff in the commissioning process Responsible for reviewing project CAD documentation and correcting for as-built purposes and communicating project snag list to project manager Assists the project manager with regular written reporting and handling client-requested changes to scope (change orders) Assists installation technicians/contractors and clients with field questions and clarifications Responsible for configuration of UC platforms, AV over IP/fiber, IP and network switch configuration of all AV devices residing on a network. Updating of device firmware where applicable. Advanced capabilities for troubleshooting Microsoft Teams and UC solutions, complete AV rack builds, bespoke system designs and client AV standards Able to effectively communicate with onsite/remote IT teams to resolve networking and patching issues Ability to work with a programmer for in-room control and audio DSP program setup and test. Able to use Dante controller and open and load audio DSP program file Setting up of device EDID and testing of point-to-point and multipoint video over IP/Fibre/HDbT devices over the network Ability to field test and resolve issues with AV control program, hardware configuration equipment and control program as per design brief in a logical manner Responsible for completing commissioning QA checklists, rack testing and escalating and resolving issues with the installation, system design, control program and equipment. Responsible for managing and storing the final control program and audio DSP code on the project server Provide training on AV / UC systems to clients Audio-video solutions could include the following: Video systems; Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco/Webex, Poly, Google UC cloud services; Poly RealConnect, Pexip, BlueJeans, Webex, Starleaf Control Systems; Crestron, AMX, Extron, QSC Audio DSP; QSC, Biamp, ClearOne, Video distribution systems; Crestron DM/NVX, Extron DTP, Kramer HDbT, Aurora HDbT/Fibre. Wireless presentation; Crestron, Barco, Mersive, Extron, Kramer Digital signage systems; Brightsign, Evertz; VBrick, Barco, Planar, Samsung, LG Remote monitoring: Crestron Fusion, AMX RMS, Cyviz, Video wall: Samsung, Planar, Barco. What do we require from you? General CTS preferred A thorough, demonstrable understanding of systems integration techniques Skilled in the programming of audio DSP units + loading of Crestron, Extron and AMX code + basic IP networking Can create customer training presentations and user guides in PowerPoint/Word if required Experience installing audio-visual, Unified communications, videoconferencing, corporate video, control systems, low voltage, voice/data cabling, structured cabling, fibre optic, or related systems strongly preferred Competencies: Mature personality with the ability to work both on own initiative and in a team environment, often under pressure and strict deadlines The position of Installation requires the following attributes: technical capability, professionalism, self-motivation, self-discipline, focus and attention to detail and punctuality Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize an often conflicting workload Innovative, with the ability to implement problem-solving initiatives Flexibility regarding working hours and willingness to travel extensively High level of professionalism and customer awareness This role offers the opportunity to participate in ongoing training and development to keep you up to date with the latest technologies in the Video Conferencing and AV market Supervisory Responsibility: Supervision of L1 and L2 Technicians and Team Lead responsibilities, including sign-off. Work Environment : Varies depending on the client site. Physical Demands: Physically fit, lifting required Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full time, 40 hours per week. Travel: Flexibility and the ability to travel is an essential part of this role. Required Education and Experience: Have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar position Technical knowledge and proven install experience of VC and AV solutions including (but not restricted to) Cisco, AMX, Creston, Microsoft, Zoom, Polycom Audio DSP/QSC Supervisory / Team Lead experience Preferred Education and Experience: Brand experience and qualifications in the following is desirable but not essential: digital media signage applications (Cisco, Samsung, Tripleplay, Signage Live, Appspace), Codian MCU, CTM, ClearOne, Extron, Lifesize, CTS Infocomm Qualified (CTS-I and CTS-D), AMX Qualified (CTS-I and CTS-D), QSC and Biamp qualified.
