Examples of Duties Under general supervision, manages the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Asset Management Program and Associated Training. Essential Job Duties Plans, coordinates, and manages a major engineering program. Assists in supervision of professional and subprofessional engineering, technical, and clerical staff. Manages the work of consultants, contractors, and others. Develops and implements asset management standards and program policies. Coordinates the asset management program work and implementation of program standards with other Bureaus. Reviews, approves, and comments on consultant proposals. Maintains records and prepares reports of program activities. Implements Bureau asset management strategies. Recommends likelihood and consequence of failure criteria. Coordinates work between consultants, the Department, and other County agencies. Coordinates program requirements and access needs to County IT staff. Maintains existing asset management models and oversees development and deployment of new models. Examples of Other Duties Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Possession of a high school diploma or appropriate equivalent. Plus Twelve years' subprofessional engineering experience. (Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years for the required experience.) OR Possession of a certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of asset management. Knowledge of asset management software preferred. Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage an engineering program. Ability to supervise professional engineering, subprofessional engineering, technical, and clerical staff. Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff and external vendors. License and Certificates Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license may be required for some positions at the time of appointment.
