Regional EHS role covering multiple plants First EHS hire in the company with the opportunity to build out a program About Our Client We are working with a Food Manufacturing company in Newark, NJ in their search to hire their first EHS hire in the company. This will be a Regional EHS Manager role that will oversee multiple sites and will build out an EHS department and program from scratch. The ideal candidate will be bilingual with Food Manufacturing experience. They are able to relocate a candidate for this position. Job Description The EHS Manager - Food Manufacturing - Bilingual will be responsible for the following: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs and policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions. Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and develop preventive measures. Develop and deliver EHS training programs to employees, including new hire orientation, safety procedures, and emergency response. Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics and trends to senior management. Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste. Coordinate with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required reports. Stay current on EHS regulations, standards, and best practices to ensure the company's compliance and continuous improvement. Collaborate with production, maintenance, and other departments to integrate EHS principles into daily operations. Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability throughout the organization. The Successful Applicant The EHS Manager - Food Manufacturing - Bilingual will ideally have the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certification is highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in the food manufacturing industry. Bilingual in Spanish and English In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations and standards. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
