This HYBRID position provides technical and administrative support to a railcar product engineering team while following a learning path and developing the skill set required for progression to a railcar product engineer role. The incumbent is part of a team that delivers product specifications, work instructions, and support to procure, optimize and maintain a portfolio of railcar products that meet or exceed customer, GATX, and regulatory requirements. ( HYBRID role requires approximately 60% of time in office/other work site monthly. ) Responsibilities Provide technical support to railcar product engineering team. Support development of railcar modification and maintenance instructions and railcar arrangement and component drawings. Provide administrative support to railcar product engineering team. Follow learning path to develop knowledge and skills required for progression to railcar product engineer role. Develop working knowledge of interfacing functions that depend on product engineering services and work product Scope of Work : A product engineering team consisting of a manager and staff with varying seniority will direct this role in providing technical and administrative support for a portfolio of railcar products and following a product engineer learning path. In this context, this role will interact with maintenance facility staff and management, corporate operations and commercial managers and staff to support development of railcar modification and maintenance programs that meet external and internal customer needs. Qualifications Bachelor degree in Engineering Technology; Associate degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical Engineering; or related technical degree. Equivalent and relevant experience will be taken into consideration but is not necessary AutoCAD drafting skill is required Proficient in Microsoft office suite products and/or related software Strong technical aptitude and motivation to learn and progress Other: Moderate travel as necessary to visit repair facilities, customer sites, up to 20%. HYBRID role requires approximately 60% of time in office/other work site monthly. Must be physically able to climb on equipment within a maintenance facility, stand on feet for extended periods in a plant environment.
