Position Summary Manage the day to day operations of the Infection Prevention and Control Program, including staffing functions, surveillance oversight, committee assignments and education development and policy review. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Manage day to day operations for the Infection Prevention and Control department. • Participates in systematic reviews of Orlando Health policies and procedures. • Responsible for creation, submission and management of departmental budget. • Facilitates investigation of less than average performance for process and outcome monitors related to infection prevention and control. • Ensures and maintains accuracy of data and information. • Monitors workload of assigned team and makes adjustments as necessary. • Supervises new team member orientation. • Develops and oversees the implementation of strategies to reduce infections at hospital facilities assigned. • Ensures implementation of the infection prevention program at hospital facilities assigned. • Monitors compliance with Infection Prevention and Control practice, and regulatory guidelines at facilities assigned. • Act as a resource for Orlando Health managers, physicians, committees and outpatient facilities. • Performs surveillance as needed. • Manages various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions • Represents the director in his/her absence. • Represents Infection Prevention and Control on committees and task forces as assigned. • Actively seeks learning opportunities related to Infection Prevention and Control. Qualifications Education/Training Bachelor's degree in clinical field; Nursing, Medical Technology, Registered Respiratory Therapist must be licensed clinician by the Department of Health renewed bi-annually. or Bachelor's degree in health or life sciences or healthcare administration. Licensure/Certification Certification in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology Inc - renewed every five years. Experience Five (5) years of Infection Prevention and Control experience.
