POSITION SUMMARY: The Blood Services Product Specialist works under the direction of the assigned Blood Services Product Team Lead in support of product development activities. Particularly may assist with research and documentation of product requirements, development of product technical documentation, development and implementation of product test plans, internal and client training programs, support of beta product releases. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Product Development Responsibilities: Assist in documenting product requirements adhering to SCC standard for preparing the Statement of User Requirements Works closely with the Blood Services Product Team Lead and/or Senior Manager and other members of the product development team to provide product education throughout the development cycle Works closely with the Blood Services Product Team Lead and/or Senior Manager for the purpose of providing domain expertise as he/she develops the System Requirements Specification Ensures that System Requirements adhere to current industry regulatory standards: FDA, AABB, etc. Prepares Use Case Scenarios as defined by SCC in preparation for and support of QC product testing Works closely with the QC team during product validation to assure that the delivered product adheres to and meets the stated product requirements As directed by the Blood Services Product Team Lead, provides support for the product Beta site by conducting client education and customer support through the Beta implementation and go-live period Documents client issues and develop action plan for resolution Facilitates product knowledge transfer to Implementation, Client Support, and Sales and Marketing staff through documentation and training Product Maintenance Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Blood Services Product Team Lead, reviews client/prospect requirements, studies feasibility, and documents accepted Software Change Requests per SCC SOP Complies with approved procedures, directives and guidelines Performs other duties as assigned JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education Required: Four year degree in the applicable healthcare related field (Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Biology, etc.). Advanced degree in the applicable discipline, business or computer science highly desirable. Certification and/or License in Immunohematology, MLS/MT, MLT or clinical related field by the State of Florida, ASCP, AMT, AAB, and SBB or other national certifying organizations is required. Must have at least an Associate's Degree. Experience Required: Previous experience performed in a donor collection center and/or hospital blood bank. Broad experience and understanding of the applicable healthcare discipline is essential. Previous experience in a clinical laboratory field as a Medical Technologist or related position. Previous experience in a service related field and related computer position. Previous experience with computerized healthcare applications including specification of requirements, file building, and usage is highly desirable.
