Nassau University Medical Center is a 530-bed tertiary care teaching hospital that has been the primary source of medical care for millions of Nassau County residents since 1935. We are committed to providing the highest quality of care to our diverse patient population.The Director of Blood Bank will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the blood bank operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining the highest level of patient this role, you will:Manage daily operations of the blood bank, including inventory management, quality control, and staff supervision.Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including CAP, Joint Commission and state requirements.Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain best practices in transfusion medicine.Collaborate with clinical departments to optimize blood utilization and patient outcomesOversee the training and continuing education of blood bank staff and education of medical residents.Participate in hospital committees related to transfusion medicine and patient safety.Manage budgeting and financial aspects of the blood bank.We require:MD or DO with board certification in Clinical Pathology or Blood BankingTransfusion Medicine.Minimum of 5 years of experience in blood banking, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Strong knowledge of current regulations and accreditation standards in blood banking.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.Experience with quality management systems and process improvement.We offer:NYS PensionOpportunity to work with a diverse patient population in a teaching hospital settingSupport for continuing education and professional developmentSalary: $110hr + depending on experience and qualificationsDirector of Blood Bank, for immediate consideration, please submit your CV, cover letter to University Medical Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
