POSITION SUMMARY: The Product Engineer is responsible for applying established Engineering principles to design and develop new products and modify existing products. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned) * Responsible for product design activities required to develop and maintain products in the industry. * Plan and schedule all activities required to accomplish assigned task/project. * Responsible for system performance analysis, component selection, structural and sheet metal design, plumbing design, and test planning. * Produce product documentation required for component purchasing, unit manufacturing, and user manuals. * Develop and monitor test procedures consistent with design criteria. * Direct and coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype product. * Support and answer technical inquiries from sales, service and quality assurance departments. * Maintain prompt, thorough and positive action on all investigations of report defectiveness. * Review and approve Engineering Change Requests. Perform data entry and release functions within ERP system. * Other assignments as designated by the department manager. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: * ISO 9001: establish standards, procedures and other documents in accordance with ISO 9001. * Maintain the currency with respect to technical and supervisory skills by attending training classes, special technical and administration courses; seminars, exhibits and trade shows are needed. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * 4 years of engineering design experience, including design methods, engineering materials, and associated manufacturing systems. * Computer skills: Solidworks proficiency, ERP system experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills. * Working knowledge of 5S and other lean manufacturing techniques. EDUCATION: * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
