POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Tax Accountant - Bilingual Korean will perform tax-related tasks for Hyosung HICO Ltd and HICO America, its subsidiary company. The person in charge will ensure compliance with tax laws, help optimize tax strategies, and assist the company in meeting its tax obligations. This role requires a deep understanding of tax regulations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex tax issues effectively. THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: • Review and validate all types of tax transactions to comply with the business tax regulations at all levels, including federal, state, and local, in day-to-day operations. This includes reviewing and processing all tax billings and other requests promptly to meet the filing deadline. • Review and validate the posting status of all tax transactions in the accounting data system in day-to-day operations, including correcting and reconciling inaccurate data and errors. • Process and deliver all types of filings and returns on time required by the state and federal levels' taxation statutes, including income tax returns, property tax, sales & use tax, form 1042, 1099, and all other miscellaneous filings. To successfully perform this role, it is required to develop a master filing schedule and maintain it with an up-to-date filling schedule. • Prepare the financial data and in-depth analysis reports to support all the required filings, including corporate income tax, audits, and all other associated projects. • Take a leading role in developing income tax provisions to recognize a reasonably estimated income tax on the financial statement at month-end closing • Review all aspects of accounting and finance transaction data, including AP, AR, sales, payroll, inventory, fixed asset, lease, and all other operating expenses, to check compliance issues and risks associated with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This includes researching and developing strategies, solutions, and opportunities to overcome challenges from the compliance issues and potential risks. • Take a leading role in collaborating with the external audit team and tax consulting firm regarding year-end FS audit, income tax filing, and all other assigned projects, including responding to all inquiries from the external audit and tax team. • Support the HQ office's inquiries regarding income tax provisions on financial reporting and all other tax issues on the overseas transactions between HQ and related companies, including transfer pricing. • Lead the various projects assigned to improving the internal corporate accounting policies and procedures associated with tax compliance. • Provide support to the accounting team members when tax-related issues or relevant questions are raised. • Promote the Finance/Accounting Department's goals and positive, professional image by promptly and cooperatively conducting business with other HICO departments, vendors, and customers. • Know HICO's Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies. EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting & other relevant areas and at least 8 years of work experience in corporate accounting and finance and 3 years of professional experience in tax. CPA or advanced degree is preferred. • Must be bilingual and proficient in English and Korean. • Advanced knowledge of international and US tax regulations and compliance. • Professional knowledge in financial reporting and analysis. • A minimum of 7 years of work experience in ERP system. SAP experience preferred.
