At SNAHC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $18.81-$25.45/HR.Position Summary:The Medical Assistant (MA) reports to the Medical Clinic Manager and supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures; changing dressings; assists in the examination and treatment of patients in a fast pace Primary Care setting.The Medical Assistant maintains patient flow to ensure patient care is provided in an orderly and timely manner.Essential Functions:Performs routine clinical pletes patient intake, document immunizations on logs, and processes all orders in NextGen, electronic health record.Assists with visual and/or audio screenings and documentation thereof.Assists with minor procedures including but not limited to PAP smears, throat culture, biopsies and hands instruments and materials to providers as directed. Prepares specimens for storage and transport.Prepares forms related to patient care and services.If the patient is to pay for outside lab tests, prepares the form and prices the test for the receptionist to collect payment. Escorts patients from exam room to reception if payment is required.Prepares exams room for providers.Coordinates referral with referral clerks.Processes prior authorizations for and administers vaccines, injections, EKG's, Point of Care labs, Urine Drug Screens and any CLIA waved lab tests as ordered by medical pletes prescription refills utilizing standing orders/per provider.Sterilizes and cleans instruments. Maintains the sterilization inventory.Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answering pletes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.Must follow Scope of Practice for Certified Medical Assisting as outlined in the Official California Code of Federal with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, sexual harassment, scope of practice, OSHA, etc.Actively participates in internal quality improvement teams. Works with team members proactively to support quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals for the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards.At all times demonstrates cooperative behavior with supervisors, colleagues, patients, and the community.Other duties as assigned.Skills and Abilities:Excellent computer skills, preferably with Windows, including Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent telephone and communication skillsMust possess excellent organizational, writing, and verbal skills.Ability to work independently, set priorities, and work well under pressure.Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentialityAbility to demonstrate superior professionalism when dealing with patients, subordinates, colleagues, community members and vendors.Ability to collaborate and convene across sectors and organizational petencies:Communication and Relationship BuildingTaking InitiativePlanning and OrganizingSafetyTeamworkInjection AdministrationOperatory and Materials PreparationPatient ChartingProvider AssistanceMinimum Qualifications:Medical Assistant Diploma from an accredited institution.Back Office ExperienceExperience Administering InjectionsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in an FQHC settingKnowledge of traditional, cultural and spiritual practices of the diverse AI/AN community, as well as ability to work with other racially, culturally, ethnically, and financially diverse with Nextgen or other electronic health record system.Experience in PediatricsActive certification from a Medical Assistant Certifying Board (Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)).Please Note: This position may be grant funded.Continued employment is contingent upon renewed or additional funding and may be discontinued at the close of the grant cycle.Grant funding for any position does not impart any contractual right, either expressed or implied, to remain in Sacramento Native American Health Center, Inc.'s employment for a specific period of time.Grant funding does not affect the Sacramento Native American Health Center, Inc.'s status as an "at will" employer.
