Your Impact (Responsibilities) We are looking for a Computational Research Engineer experienced with translating novel computational algorithms and approaches into working initial implementations. You will partner directly with the Chief Technologist to explore the next generation of innovations necessary to accelerate the transition to a reliable, decarbonized grid through complex simulation and optimization technology. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced research environment to methodically prototype to test ideas and theories. You will play a key role in building out the future technology roadmap, including tasks such as: Designing and implementing software experiments to evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness and correctness of innovative approaches to complex problems Build performant and high-capacity prototypes utilizing the latest algorithmic, software, and cloud technologies Working with other members of the team to understand problem characteristics, present research findings, and determine direction for future research Your work will help continue the revolution in software solutions for a reliable, decarbonized grid! About You PhD or PhD-candidate in Engineering with a computational focus or Computer Science is desired; a few years of applicable software engineering experience is a plus Proficient in Python, C++ Deep knowledge and experience with numerical methods for simulation and optimization Experience researching the application of computational algorithms and numerical methods to new application areas Experience with high performance computing and computational parallelization frameworks Familiarity with utilizing cloud environments to execute large computational tasks is a plus Knowledge of power systems is a plus Knowledge of electronic design automation tools and methods is a plus
