The mission of the battery team is to develop power sources for the devices that enable these experiences. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a background in battery state tracking and controls to join our this role, goal is to implement new battery algorithms to improve run time, reduce charge time, improve performance across temperature and extend battery life. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in developing, implementing, testing and validating new algorithms for Li-ion batteries.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with cell, algorithm, and validation engineers to develop and validate battery models to guide battery design decisionsLeverage battery models to estimate battery life and power delivery capability across different operating conditionsDevelop and validate battery algorithms to improve battery performance metrics such as charge time, cycle life and run timeMonitor battery telemetry to assess the performance of existing battery algorithms and derive representative use cases to guide the development of new algorithmsMinimum QualificationsM.S. degree in engineering, material Science or physicsBasic understanding of battery electrochemistry and electrical characteristics of Li-ion batteriesKnowledge of control theory and its application to Li-ion battery modelingExperience developing test plans to validate algorithms for battery management systemsProficient with scripting, data processing, and performing dynamic simulations in MATLAB andor PythonInterpersonal skills and experience to work effectively in a dynamic team-oriented environmentPreferred Qualifications3+ years of experience developing battery management algorithmsWorking knowledge of battery fuel gauge algorithms for consumer electronics from common fuel gauge vendorsExperience in embedded programming in CC++, unit testing, and new firmware integrationBackground in a high-volume consumer electronics industryExperience with using data driven ALML algorithms for battery control and battery health diagnosticsFamiliarity with cellbattery testing equipment (Maccor, Arbin, Neware, BioLogic, or equivalent)
