POSITION OVERVIEW:The Maintenance Technician keeps the production equipment for an electric motor manufacturing plant properly maintained. Duties involve the performance of maintenance operations and the use of tools and equipment of several trades, such as mechanic, carpentry, electrical, etc. Work involves a combination of the following: Planning and layout of work relating to repair mechanical andor electrical equipment; installing and aligning new equipment; and maintaining building as needed.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Troubleshoots and repairs manufacturing equipment involving primarily mechanical, electrical and structuralAbility to identify technical malfunctions in mechanical pneumatic hydraulic and electrical systems using appropriate manuals, drawings, and toolsComply with all safety procedures, practices and regulations including Lock-Out Tag-OutMaintain records of all maintenance activitiesPerforms preventive building maintenance duties or coordinates with contractors as appropriatePurchases supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projectsDemonstrable manual dexterity using various types of tools in the performance of this disciplineAbility to follow directions, both verbally and writtenBasic computer skillsCommitted to quality, be detail oriented, adept at multi-tasking and well organizedAbility to be self-motived, work independently or as a team member, and be an effective communicator while addressing issues that arise with a sense of urgencyComplete all other tasks as assigned by the manager or supervisorREQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED Experience:High School degree or equivalent requiredPrior maintenance experience preferredAdvanced maintenance training desirableRequires the basic ability or knowledge required to read blue prints, installation instruction sheets, local and national installationsafety codesAdept at using mechanical, carpentry, electrical and plumbing shop type power and hand tools correctly and safelyStrong background in electrical machine repair is preferredAbility to read schematicsExperience working with PLCTrouble shootingMechanical knowledge with Mills - Lathes and other machining equipmentSome robotics experience would be a plusPlease note: This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
